Charges made by stockbrokers and other professional advisers are based around two factors: the type of service and the stocks or shares being dealt in.

Under the Financial Services Act 1986, stockbrokers and professional advisers are obliged to inform their clients of the charges being made. Contract notes displaying all charges made have to be issued for stock market transactions on the same day that they are carried out.
